Go Voyages Chooses Equinix to Increase Business Effectiveness
Optimised Performance and Availability of its On-Line Services Essential Factors in Guaranteeing Competitiveness and Profitability
Paris, France – September 7, 2010 – Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), global supplier of data center services, today announced that Go Voyages, France’s number one travel agency for seat-only sales on both charter and regular flights, has selected Equinix to protect and connect its infrastructure, enabling the continuity of its on-line services. Go Voyages’ infrastructure is hosted at Equinix’s PA3 International Business Exchange (IBX®) data center near Paris, where the company can also access an ecosystem of major operators providing direct fibre interconnection to 30 regional and metropolitan telecommunications networks.
Go Voyages has offices in central Paris where customers can purchase tickets but specialises in the sale of on-line travel. With 98 percent of weekday orders and 100 percent of weekend orders placed online, the need to consistently guarantee the availability and optimized performance of the govoyages.com web site is paramount for customer retention in the face of stiff on-line competition from other agencies. Sharp growth in demand led Go Voyages to look to a data center service provider as its own premises could not accommodate its need for optimum security and scalability.
After researching the market, Go Voyages opted for Equinix’s PA3 IBX data center which met all its requirements in terms of collocation, security, redundancy and rich network choice.
“We cannot afford to have our IT system break down, as any disruption to services means a considerable loss of revenue,” stresses François-Xavier Patry, IT Operations Director at Go Voyages. “The physical and security features of the PA3 IBX data center, incorporating numerous security clearance levels to access the IT rooms, N 1 redundancy and multiple air conditioning and ventilation systems, offer ideal conditions to meet our performance requirements and protect our equipment. The presence at PA3 of one service provider with whom we are currently working, and of another one who will undoubtedly soon become a strategic business partner, is also an important factor in guaranteeing performance for us and our customers.”
Equinix’s IBX data centres offer state-of-the-art physical security, excellent electrical power and energy savings, and exceptional infrastructure flexibility. Equinix’s European data centers hold ISO 9001.2008 certification, the globally recognised quality standard issued by the International Organization for Standardization.
Equinix’s interconnection solutions are based on a rich, network neutral ecosystem comprising all the global tier 1 networks offering services within Equinix IBX data centers. These solutions provide a more efficient, more reliable exchange of data between enterprises and their customers and facilitate expansion of the enterprises’ networks as required.
Installed at the PA3 IBX data center since January 2010, Go Voyages has been able to experience the availability and operational commitment of Equinix’s technical and commercial teams, appreciating Equinix’s focus on customer support and not simply on the sale of space.
“The responsiveness and professionalism of the Equinix teams have helped us find intelligent solutions to optimise our platform,” continues François-Xavier Patry. “Their approach is service- and infrastructure-led rather than stock-based, something we value immensely and which sets them apart from the other players on the market.”
Although Go Voyages’ activities are currently centred on France, expansion beyond French borders may be envisaged in the future. Thanks to Equinix’s presence in 35 global metropolitan areas, Go Voyages can be assured of finding the same standards of quality in all Equinix IBX data centers throughout the world.
“For e-business players and all those whose sales figures are heavily dependent on the Internet, an interruption in services can have catastrophic consequences,” observes Michel Brignano, General Manager of Equinix France. “By entrusting its infrastructure to Equinix, Go Voyages can concentrate on its core business while remaining confident that its operations are secure and that it has the capacity to meet significant growth demands. We are very happy to be able to accompany Go Voyages today and in its future projects.”
